Lately, I've been in a little bit of a inspiration lull. Do you ever get those? Where everything seems just kind of ehhh. I flip through magazines lazily, only glancing at the pictures. Open six tabs on my browser, read a few sentences, then click the x. Maybe it's that after a glimpse of excitement - graduate school and four days of early spring sunshine - normal gray days on my way to the office seem so ... well, normal.
Being nonplussed ranks highly on my list of "least favorite feelings". So, on Sunday - a day that always feels a little lonely, and reminds me of my current status as a single - I loaded a roll of film and went on a word search. I looked in store windows, at graffiti on stucco, at highway signs and concert posters. I wanted words that were more than just a simple set of letters.
My favorite was a compound that holds all the hope and excitement in every possible tomorrow. someday. What a surprise ...

I've been feeling the same way lately...I don't know why but I hope it flies away soon with the winter chill. 'Blah' is not a good feeling to have when spring arrives.
ReplyDeleteIf one word holds the hope of hope itself....'someday' is the perfect one.
We have an old building in our downtown that has the word "Cheer" painted on it. It was the sign from an old bar years ago but it makes me smile everytime I see it.
Hold onto to someday...it might be tomorrow!
I love the idea of a photo word search and what your search resulted in. Think I may go on one of these soon. Best wishes for a lovely weekend!
ReplyDeleteIndeed--what a wonderful surprise to find.
ReplyDeleteI've been in the same sort of lull lately, I think it just comes with this in-between season time--winter is past, but spring isn't full present. I hope the inspiration comes back along with budding trees and blooming flowers.
LOVE this image. What a fabulous idea! You've inspired me to do the same with my next Sunday. And I know what you mean. I would rather be flying high on the wings of anticipation or in the depths of despair than blah in between.
ReplyDeleteexactly! I'm the happiest when I have something sparkling on the horizon (... I'm not necessarily proud of that fact)
