eternal summer.
my flower friend, Alison.
In March, when the ground is still hard and banks of brown snow cling to the street curb, the Botanic Garden at Smith College hosts their spring Bulb Show. They fill the front two rooms of the green houses with daffodils and tulips in every color, a densely packed preview of the spring to come.

My fellow flower fan, Alison, invited me along since she's a Pioneer Valley local and she knows about these things - fun events and ways to survive the winter. All these photos are of their "permanent collection" and the palm room. I guess I skipped a season and went straight on to summer.

  1. Love this. It's always such a horribly bleak feeling when it's been brown and grey for so many months, what a perfect way to beat those winter doldrums.

    1. Anni, when we were walking through there were a few ladies sitting and reading books on the benches in the palm room. I think it'll be my new winter hide-away - my own private Barbados!

    1. Rosie, you absolutely should! Not to mention, the lighting is always the best (gotta love a house made entirely of windows)

I'm trying to take film pictures but I'm a little afraid, your blog is always a great inspiration, though!

    1. Mavi, slr cameras seem scary with all the manual settings but FILM IS SO FORGIVING! I swear, mine even takes pretty pictures of the ground when I'm winding the roll. Just make sure your light meter is functioning and start there, it'll be great.
