a Musical Monday: at Deerhunter

So there is something you should know about me. I'm not very cool. I don't really know how to properly smoke a cigarette, and I like country music, and I've never been able to say "I don't care. whatever." Maybe my obvious excitement over just about everything eliminates any hipness. I don't know.

My roommates on the other hand are all really cool. They wear cardigans, and have beards, and know about the best music. They're even in a band. I can't even play the recorder. So, naturally, I am super awkward when we go to concerts.

Tess, our cool boy roommates, and I all went to see Deerhunter last night at Birbati's. And let me tell you, it was phenomenal. I can't give you any musical terms like "kick of the snare" to defend my opinion, but it was!

The lead singer for Deerhunter is Bradford Cox, who you might recognize from the better known Atlas Sound. His voice just carries, it played in my head all night. The other members have two of the best musician's names I've ever heard: Lockett Pundt (on guitar) and Moses Archuleta (on drums). Moses is very cute. He might be some kind of asian & I've got a thing for drummers.

The show ended with the majority of the front row being pulled on stage and the band handing over their instruments to them, resulting in security coming almost immediately to make sure no one ran off with a thousand dollars worth of guitars or something. If I was a real music-lover I woulda been standing in the front row and later on stage, face to face with Moses. But then again, I've got a man, and I'll leave getting with the band for the cool chicks anyways.
