after I finished teaching on Wednesday, I headed straight for the Boston airport (Bob, if you're reading this: thank you for letting us borrow your car and saving me a 5 hour bus ride!) After a six hour flight - most of which was spent watching reality TV in the seat-back monitor - I arrived in Seattle.
The University of Washington offered to fly me out for their PhD program's preview weekend, which in itself felt so crazy (... am I LeBron James?). The campus was beyond gorgeous with all the gothic architecture and the camellias in full bloom. Best of all, I got to see so many people I love! After days spent on campus talking to professors, the itinerary included meeting with Oregon friends for oysters at Walrus and Carpenter. And, on Saturday my sister and Dad came-up and we were all spoiled rotten at the Alexis ... including Lily's new borardor puppy, Bear.
This week I have some big decisions to make about where I'll be going to school next year. I'll be sure to keep you updated, but for now I'm just reveling in a well-spent weekend on the West Coast.
Sounds like you had a mightily good weekend, Mr James ;) (seriously, that's awesome they flew you out!!). Absolute best of luck to you, Sam, with all the decision-making!! Fingers are crossed for you here :)
