Maurice Sendak, on NPR's Fresh Air . It reminds me a this line from A Heartbreaking Work by Dave Eggers (who co-wrote the film adaptation of Sendak's Where the Wild Things Are)
"And we will be ready, at the end of the everyday we will be ready ... so when it comes we will not be angry, we will be content, tired enough to go, gratefully."
